Rev Henry Newmarch
by David Newmarch
Henry was a relatively young priest when he came to Winteringham - being
approximately 27 years old.
He graduated from Oxford in 1827, to take up the post of Rector at Boultham, Lincoln. He came to Winteringham in 1833, and four years later moved to Hessle where he settled and died in 1883, aged about 77.
He was married to Susannah who was five years his junior, and by the time they were
living in the (Tudor) Rectory at Winteringham, they had children Susannah, Henry, John, Mary, and Margaret (Margaret was baptised at Winteringham).
By 1841 when they lived in Hessle Rectory, Susannah had given birth to another child, Emily.
