Winteringham Church
For this sketch, Freda has included the three buildings that her father had had built, or remodelled extensively - the “new” Rectory on
the left, the Church (remodelled 1851) and in the right foreground, the National School (1845). She has used artistic licence and
“removed” the Tudor Rectory, which would have partially obscured the Church from this viewpoint.
Winteringham Rectory
Viewed from the south.
NB: Rev Read is known to have painted in water colours, though currently we do not know of any that he did at Winteringham.
Perhaps this is where Freda gained her artistic excellence?
Note that Freda was the daughter of Rev Read’s second marriage and never lived in Winteringham.
