Three pictures of lorries taken just before 8:00 am on
Friday 5th September 1952, as the River Humber made one of its regular visits to the ‘wrong’ side of the A1077.
As lorries queue up in the distance, FFU 457 very slowly picks its way through the floodwaters of the Humber,
travelling down what would be the centre of the road.
The cameraman appears from the sack at the bottom of the photograph, to be on a lorry himself.
AJV 618 leads a short convoy through the rather choppy waters.
JBE 22 carries one passenger inside and two on top as it reaches the safety of the water’s edge close by Low
Farm on the morning of Friday 5th September 1952.
