Winteringham Church Harvest Festival
Kindly supplied by Sandra Clayton and scanned by Ken Jacobs
The church is beautifully decorated for a harvest festival, probably in the 1950s. Can you spot the sheaf of wheat, the model haystack and harvest wagon (either side of the aisle towards the altar, in front of
the choir stalls)?
The inscription over the arch stated: “Glory to Go[d] in the Highest” (Sandra tells us the “d” of “God” was missing). Geoff Greaves (churchwarden) tells us that the inscription was on fabric, and this
deteriorated and had to be removed.
